A genuinely special find — an early-1950s Omega Constellation in rare full-set form, complete with its original red Constellation presentation box and chronometer certificate.
This is the period when Omega were competing head-to-head with Rolex for chronometer supremacy, and these early Constellations were their flagship. Most examples today have lost their paperwork decades ago, so having the original certificate present puts this example in a very small minority.
The watch is powered by the Omega calibre 501, one of the earliest full-rotor chronometer movements Omega ever produced, and a significant upgrade from the older bumper calibres. Smooth, reliable and historically important.
The watch has been recently serviced and runs well.
The original dial shows honest age — exactly what collectors expect at this level — with a warm, even patina. The case remains sharp, with the solid gold bezel, medallion and period-correct hexagonal crown all in lovely shape.
We’ve left the case unpolished to preserve its character. Minor marks can be buffed out if a buyer insists, but most prefer it as-is.
The previous owner paired the watch with a high-quality crocodile-style leather strap, barely worn and very well made. It suits the watch beautifully and complements the gold tone.
The buckle is the correct Omega gold-plated vintage buckle — exactly what Omega supplied at the time (solid-gold buckles bent too easily, which is why plated was standard).
If you prefer a more classic black or brown strap, we can swap it free of charge after checkout.
