A genuinely lovely mid-1950s Omega Seamaster, and one that ticks the boxes collectors actually care about. This is reference 2577-17, dating to 1952, fitted with the correct Omega automatic calibre 351 and featuring the increasingly hard-to-find honeycomb (often called waffle) dial.
These dials were produced in relatively small numbers and are now firmly recognised as one of the most attractive and desirable Seamaster variants of the period.
Reference: Omega Seamaster 2577-17
Year: 1952
Movement: Omega Calibre 351 automatic
Case: Gold-plated case with stainless steel screw-back
Diameter: approx. 34.5mm (wears noticeably larger on the wrist)
Dial: Original silver honeycomb / waffle dial with applied gold indices
Crystal: Acrylic (correct for the period)
Strap: New brown leather strap
Wrist shown: 17.5cm
Although on paper it measures 34.5mm, this reference consistently wears bigger than the numbers suggest, thanks to the dial texture, slim bezel, and strong lug presence. On the wrist, it punches well above its size.
Overall condition is excellent for a watch approaching 70 years old.
Dial is clean and well-preserved, with crisp texture
Case retains strong lines and attractive original shape
Movement is clean, correct, and running well
Caseback stamped Acier Staybrite, as expected
The calibre 351 is a proper workhorse from Omega’s golden era — reliable, robust, and beautifully finished. This example is running well and has been checked prior to sale.

Honeycomb-dial Seamasters are becoming harder to find every year — especially in honest condition with correct reference and movement. Omega simply does not make watches like this anymore: real mechanical craftsmanship, restrained elegance, and timeless design.
This is the sort of vintage piece that:
Looks right with a shirt, jumper, or jacket
Will never go out of style
Is increasingly difficult to replace once sold
Investment-worthy, wearable, and properly collectible.
Carefully selected vintage watches only
Correct references and movements — no guesswork
Fully checked, honestly described
UK-based, fast insured delivery
Personal service from someone who actually knows vintage Omega
If you’re looking for a true 1950s Seamaster with a rare dial, this is a strong example and fairly priced in today’s market.
