A superb example of a quietly collectible classic, this 1989 Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date Ref. 15010 offers everything enthusiasts look for in an entry-level vintage Rolex — strong originality, elegant proportions, a striking black dial, and one of Rolex’s most underrated bezel designs.
The engine-turned bezel gives this piece real character and separates it from the more common smooth bezel references. Paired with the gloss black dial, it gives the watch a sharper, dressier look while retaining classic Oyster sportiness.
Powered by the highly regarded Rolex Calibre 3035 automatic movement, featuring quick-set date and a proven reputation for robustness, this is a proper old-school Rolex in the best sense.
Presented in very good condition, and honestly one of the stronger 1989 examples you’re likely to find.
There’s a reason references like the 15010 are increasingly appreciated.
Why collectors like them:
Frankly, at this level, it represents outstanding value for a genuine Swiss-made Rolex with service history and strong condition.
This is what many would call a true entry-level Rolex, but don’t mistake that for ordinary.
Pound for pound, there is a strong argument this is one of the more sensible Rolex buys in today’s market.
As with most semi-vintage watches, this should be considered splash resistant at best, not waterproof. Fine in day-to-day life or if caught in rain, but we advise keeping it away from water.
A cracking, honest Rolex with presence, pedigree and charm — and genuinely hard to improve upon at this money.
