A particularly rare and substantial example of the early Longines Conquest Calendar, dating to 1959 and presented in a solid 18ct rose gold case.
This is considerably more than simply an attractive vintage Longines. With its early automatic movement, substantial precious-metal case, distinctive enamel Conquest medallion and accompanying Longines Extract from the Archives, it represents a highly collectible piece from the formative years of the Conquest collection.
The accompanying official Longines Extract from the Archives, issued in Saint-Imier on 10 June 2026, confirms:
Serial Number: 10,425,294
Reference: 9005
Collection: Conquest
Movement: Longines self-winding mechanical Calibre 19ASD
Case: 18ct rose gold
Original invoice date: 19 February 1959
Original destination: Girod, Longines’ agent for Spain at the time
This provenance is particularly valuable with a vintage watch approaching 70 years old, giving the next owner documented confirmation directly from the manufacturer’s historical records.
One of the most impressive aspects of this particular watch is the sheer amount of precious metal used in its construction.
The 18ct rose gold case alone weighs approximately 23.2 grams, excluding the movement, dial, crystal and strap.
At current gold values, we estimate the intrinsic scrap value of the case alone at approximately £1,800.
Naturally, this watch is worth considerably more intact than as scrap, but the substantial gold content provides something increasingly unusual in vintage watches: a meaningful underlying precious-metal value alongside its horological and collectible value.
The case measures approximately 35mm, an excellent size for a 1950s dress watch and considerably more wearable today than many smaller watches from the period.
Inside is the highly regarded Longines Calibre 19ASD, a 19-jewel self-winding mechanical movement from an era when Longines produced its own movements and enjoyed a formidable reputation for traditional Swiss watchmaking.
The watch has recently undergone a mechanical service and is ready to be enjoyed by its next owner.
The dial features the classic Conquest Calendar configuration with:
The original dial has been professionally restored, giving the watch a wonderfully clean appearance while retaining the original dial itself.
Particularly attractive is the famous Conquest caseback, featuring the blue enamel stars and waves medallion — one of the defining details of early Conquest watches.
Comparable Ref. 9005 examples are recognised by collectors for precisely this combination of an 18ct case, automatic Calibre 19ASD, calendar display and enamelled Conquest medallion. (Antiquorum)
The watch is accompanied by:
Original vintage Longines presentation box
Official Longines Extract from the Archives
New brown leather strap
Recent mechanical service
Finding an early solid-gold Conquest is one thing; finding one with its vintage Longines box and modern factory archive documentation makes for a far more complete proposition.
There is a compelling combination here.
You are buying a 1959 mechanical Longines Conquest 9005, from the early years of the Conquest collection, powered by the desirable automatic Calibre 19ASD and housed in a remarkably substantial 18ct rose gold case.
Unlike many vintage watches whose value rests almost entirely upon collector demand, this example also contains a considerable amount of precious metal. With approximately 23.2g attributed to the 18ct case alone, there is significant intrinsic value before considering the movement, rarity, provenance, original box or collectability of the watch itself.
For £3,500, we think this represents an unusual opportunity to acquire a scarce early Longines where fine vintage watchmaking, documented history and substantial precious-metal content all meet in the same watch.
