A charming and very honest vintage 1970’s Omega Genève, offered at an unusually accessible price for a mechanical Omega of this period.
This example features the distinctive 32mm shaped gold-plated case, which has considerably more wrist presence than the measurement might suggest. The angular case and broad dial give it a larger appearance on the wrist than a conventional 32mm round watch.
At its heart is the Omega Calibre 601, a traditional hand-wound mechanical movement. The watch is currently running and is being sold as a working vintage watch, although we would recommend allowing for a service within the next few years if it is going to see regular use.
What we particularly like about this example is that it remains an honest, largely untouched vintage watch. Rather than extensively refurbishing it, we have chosen to offer it in the condition in which it came to us on PX.
There are age-related marks to the case and, importantly, some damage/chipping to the original crystal, which can be clearly seen in our photographs. This has been fully reflected in the asking price.
We acquired the watch as a part-exchange and, rather than carrying out further cosmetic restoration, have decided to offer it essentially as received at just £350.
For somebody who enjoys vintage watches exactly as they are, it represents an opportunity to own a genuine mechanical Omega at a price increasingly difficult to find.
A particularly nice addition is the original Omega leather strap and Omega-signed buckle. The watch is also supplied with the period-style red Omega presentation box pictured.
The strap is 18mm at the lugs and shows age and wear consistent with its vintage nature.

This isn’t being presented as a freshly restored or newly serviced vintage Omega — and the price reflects that.
It is a working, characterful vintage Genève with its original strap, buckle and Omega box, offered for somebody who would rather buy an honest watch inexpensively and decide themselves what, if anything, they wish to do with it in the future.
At £350, we think it represents a great entry point into vintage Omega ownership and would equally make an interesting little project for an enthusiast.
Please study the photographs carefully as they form an important part of the condition description. Vintage watches should not be considered water resistant unless specifically stated.
