Original “Globemaster” Dial | Calibre 505 Chronometer | c. 1958–1960
This Omega Globemaster reference 2852-9 SC represents one of the most historically important and elusive early Omega chronometer wristwatches.
The Globemaster name predates the Constellation line and marks Omega’s first generation of observatory-certified chronometer dress watches. During the mid-to-late 1950s, Omega briefly produced watches using the Globemaster name before fully standardising the Constellation branding across its chronometer range. As a result, original Globemaster-signed dials in Constellation-style cases are exceptionally scarce today.
Many Globemasters were later serviced with replacement Constellation dials during routine factory servicing, making surviving examples with original period Globemaster dials increasingly difficult to find. This example retains its correct Globemaster dial and represents a rare opportunity to acquire a cornerstone piece of Omega’s chronometer history.
Powered by the highly regarded Omega calibre 505 automatic chronometer movement, this watch exemplifies Omega’s golden era of mechanical precision. The reference 2852 case, shared with early Constellation models, features the iconic observatory medallion caseback – a hallmark of Omega’s chronometer-grade watches of the period.
This is not a typical vintage Omega. This is a museum-grade early chronometer reference and a serious collector’s piece.

The reference 2852 Globemaster is widely regarded as one of the most important transitional models in Omega’s history. It bridges the gap between Omega’s earliest chronometer wristwatches and the later Constellation line that would go on to define the brand’s reputation for precision throughout the 1960s.
Surviving examples with original Globemaster dials are exceptionally rare and are typically found only in established private collections or specialist auctions. Opportunities to acquire one through a dealer are increasingly uncommon.
