A striking vintage Bueche-Girod mechanical watch, crafted in 9ct yellow gold and fitted with its substantial integrated gold mesh bracelet.

Measuring approximately 31mm, this was originally considered a gentleman’s dress watch, although its beautifully restrained proportions make it an excellent unisex piece today. The classic silvered dial features black Roman numerals, elegant blued hands and a simple two-hand display, powered by a traditional hand-wound mechanical movement.

Bueche-Girod is something of an “if you know, you know” name within vintage Swiss watchmaking. Established in 1947 by master watchmaker Vital Bueche, the company became particularly known during the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s for distinctive dress watches, precious-metal cases and beautifully constructed integrated bracelets. Relatively few examples are now offered for sale, especially substantial gold bracelet models such as this.

The watch has a total gross weight of approximately 62 grams. Allowing for the movement, dial, crystal and other non-gold components, we estimate that approximately 50–55 grams of the watch comprises 9ct gold components. This represents an underlying gold value of approximately £1,700 at the time of listing, making our asking price of £2,250 particularly attractive for a complete and wearable vintage Swiss watch.

The integrated bracelet measures just under 20cm and is modelled on a 17.5cm wrist. Please note that the bracelet is a fixed length and cannot be conventionally adjusted.

The watch presents very attractively with honest age-related marks and character consistent with a vintage piece. The dial also displays attractive natural ageing. As with all vintage watches, water resistance has not been tested and should not be assumed.
